This policy covers nestflo.ca and the work we carry out in your home. It explains what we collect, why, who receives it, and what you can do about it.

What you give us directly

Through the quote form: your name, phone number, email address, the service you picked, your city, and anything you write in the optional message box.
When you phone or email: whatever you choose to tell us.
When we do the work: your address, notes about your dryer, ducting and laundry room, and the before-and-after photographs that make up the record of the visit.

We do not ask for financial, health or government identification details through this website, and we do not want them. Please do not type them into the message box.

What is collected automatically

Your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and timestamps.
An approximate location worked out from your IP address. This is city-level, not your street.
Session recordings and heatmaps. We use Microsoft Clarity, which records how pages are used: mouse movement, scrolling, clicks and taps. Text typed into form fields is masked in your browser before anything is sent, so a recording should not contain your name, phone number, email address or message.

Cookies and similar technologies

Through Google Tag Manager, this site sets cookies and similar identifiers for four services: Google Analytics, Google Ads, Microsoft Clarity and the Meta Pixel. They are used to count visits, measure which advert or search brought you here, and record how the site is used.

To be straightforward with you: there is currently no cookie consent banner on this site. You can control cookies through your browser settings and through the platform opt-outs further down this page.

Why we use it

To reply to your enquiry and give you a price.
To schedule and carry out the work.
To send you the record of the visit, including the before-and-after photographs.
To invoice you and keep the business records we are required to keep.
To remind you when a service is due, if you have asked us to.
To keep the website working and make it better.
To measure whether our advertising is working.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not trade or rent it. We use the following service providers, and each one only receives what it needs:

Netlify hosts this website and delivers your form submission to us.
Google provides our analytics, our advertising measurement, the fonts this page uses, and our email.
Microsoft provides Clarity, the session recording and heatmap tool.
Meta provides the advertising pixel and its Conversions API.
CARTO and OpenStreetMap supply the map on some pages. Loading that map sends your IP address to them.
unpkg supplies the mapping library file, which also means your IP address reaches them.

Several of these are based outside Canada, so your information may be processed in the United States or elsewhere, where it can be subject to lawful access requests by foreign authorities.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or to a professional adviser or insurer where necessary.

Advertising matching, stated plainly

This is the part most privacy policies bury, so here it is in the open. When you submit the quote form, your email address, phone number and first name are turned into an irreversible scrambled value in your browser, and that scrambled value is sent to Google Ads and to Meta. Meta may also include your city, province, postal code and country in the same scrambled form.

The purpose is to tell us which advert produced your enquiry. Those platforms cannot read your original details back out of the scrambled value, but they can compare it against their own users to find a match.

If you would rather that did not happen at all, phone us on (905) 981-5252 instead of using the form.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work: up to 24 months, then deleted.
Records of completed work, including photographs and invoices: seven years, which is the retention period for Canadian business and tax records.
Analytics and advertising data: for the retention period set by each platform, which for Google Analytics is currently 14 months.

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act you can:

Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
Withdraw your consent, subject to any legal or contractual requirements. If you withdraw consent we may no longer be able to provide the service.
Ask us to delete information we no longer need.
Complain about how we have handled your information.

Email contact@nestflo.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at 1-800-282-1376 or priv.gc.ca.

How to opt out

Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or browse in a private window.
Turn off ad personalisation in your Google account settings, and install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Adjust your Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
Use a browser or extension that blocks trackers. This site works normally with trackers blocked.

We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, because there is no agreed standard for what a website should do when it receives one.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and form submissions travel encrypted. Access to enquiries and job records is limited to the people who need it, which for a business this size means Brent. We do not collect payment card details through this website.

Children

This site is aimed at homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant we will say so on the site.
